President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed alarm over reports of a Russian submarine recently spotted in the West Philippine Sea.
In an ambush interview at the Manila Boys' Town Complex in Marikina on Monday, the President stated that any intrusion into Philippine territory is concerning.
“All of that is very concerning. Any intrusion in the West Philippine Sea, of our EEZ, of our baselines is very worrisome,” Marcos mentioned.
President Marcos declined to discuss the matter further, instead leaving it to the military to address the issue.
Meanwhile, in a report by RH Leth Narciso, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) confirmed that a Russian navy submarine was spotted 80 nautical miles west of Occidental Mindoro on November 28.
