Renato Solidum Jr. has been appointed by President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. as the chief of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

This was confirmed by Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles on Friday.

Prior to his appointment, Solidum previously led the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

He is currently the Undersecretary of the DOST for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation.
