The Palace confirmed the appointment of Commodore Andro Val Abayon as the new acting Presidential Security Command (PSC) chief on Friday.
According to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Dave Gomez, Abayon has assumed the position held by Army MGen Peter Burgonio, who served as PSC chief for eight months, RH 14 Leth Narciso reported.
Prior to his Malacañang assignment, Abayon oversaw the Naval Special Operations Command, an elite Philippine Navy unit that comprises the Navy SEALs.
Moreover, Abayon is a flag officer and member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1994.
Meanwhile, Burgonio has been reassigned as acting division commander for the 8th Infantry Division (8ID).
Abayon will be the Marcos Jr. administration’s fourth PSC chief after Army MGen Ramon Zagala, Air Force MGen Nelson Morales, and Burgonio.
