

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has appointed Major General Steve Crespillo as the Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), the Department of National Defense (DND) announced on Saturday, August 26.
In a statement, DND said Crespillo is presently the Vice Commander of Philippine Army (PA) and a member of the Philippine Military Academy’s (PMA) “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990.
Prior to his position in the PA, he served as the Commander of the 501st Infantry Brigade.
Crespillo also assumed the roles of Chief of Staff and Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs of the 6th Infantry Division, and Acting Commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade.
The newly appointed Westmincom chief will be succeeding Lieutenant General Roy Galido, who is now PA's commanding general.
Crespillo is the 17th commander of Westmincom.
