President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Thursday agreed with the economist who had given him and his cabinet an "incomplete grade" for their performance during the first year in office.

In an interview with the media on the sidelines of the launching of the "Kanegosyo Center" of the PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, the President acknowledged that there are many things his administration needed to do.

"I saw a report earlier this morning where one of the economists said the grade that I will give for the President is incomplete. I agree with him. We are not done. Ang dami pa nating gagawin," Marcos said.

The President, who is also the current Agriculture Secretary, particularly mentioned that his administration has many things to undo in the agricultural sector — the most fundamental part of the economy — which he said suffered for 30 to 40 years of neglect.

He noted that "systemic changes" are just "beginning to be part of the new bureaucracy".

Marcos also said that they are bolstering their efforts in improving the country's economy.

"But we are still [a] long way to go. Our macro-economic basics are in place," he said.

"It's never enough, whatever it is that we have managed to do, there is still a great deal to do," Marcos added.

The President said he and his cabinet will have "to work smart", "work well", and "be conscious".
