The incoming administration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will continue to file diplomatic protests against China to defend the sovereignty of the Philippines over the West Philippine Sea.
The assurance came from retired University of the Philippines Professor Clarita Carlos, who Marcos named as the next National Security Adviser.
"Well, we will continue to file diplomatic protest ‘no. Never mind that we are filing 10,000 of them because if you don’t, that means we acquiesce to the situation on the ground," said Carlos on Friday, June 10, during the Laging Handa press briefing.
Carlos also assured that the Philippines, under the Marcos Administration, will also continue to push for bilateral and multilateral with other claimants of the West Philippine Sea, also known as the South China Sea.
"We would continue to do bilateral and multilateral talks with China and other powers because it’s not only China who is laying claims to the contested South and the East China Sea," Carlos said.
"Let’s just continue to talk because the alternative is something unacceptable to all of us," she added.
