The plans that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. laid down in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 25 will serve as a guide for Congress in their legislative agendas.

According to the special report of Milky Rigonan during DZRH’s Special Coverage on Monday, lawmakers in the 19th Congress are committed to proposing house bills that can help continue the programs of the Marcos administration on recovering from the impact of the pandemic.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez said they will support the Bayanihan 3 bill to provide funds for the “Bayan Bangon Muli” (BBM) bill.

BBM is a proposed stimulus bill that would allow Marcos to harness the resources available to stimulate and strengthen the country’s economy.

Romualdez also said the proposed 2022 National Budget is Congress’ top priority.

“The most important is the 2022 National Budget which we will pass definitely in the third quarter or the last quarter rather, and the President will have sufficient time to sign it into law,” he said.

They are expecting that the Palace would submit the proposed budget to the House after the state address.

He clarified that Charter Change or cha-cha is not part of the priorities of Congress but they are open for a discussion as part of the country’s democracy.
