An indefinite suspension remains on the cards for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) if Calvin Abueva continues to get involved in controversies,

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial gave a warning to Abueva after he made a mocking gesture to San Miguel Beer head coach Jorge Gallent, and got into a verbal spat with the wife of fellow PBA player Mo Tautuaa.

"Okay naman sa akin na ma-ano ka sa court pero tigilin mo yung mga discrimination, antics, at gestures," Marcial told reporters on Wednesday, February 7.

The PBA Commissioner's Office slapped a Php 100,000 fine against Abueva for his mocking gesture against Gallent during Game Two of the 2024 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals last Sunday, February 4, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Marcial also summoned Abueva and Tautuaa to his office on Tuesday, February 6, due to the shouting incident that happened after Game Two.

The PBA commissioner said that Abueva apologized to Tautuaa, and the two players settled the issue.

Before the start of Game Three of the 2024 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, Abueva approached Gallent, and embraced the coach of the Beermen.

In 2019, the PBA slapped an indefinite suspension against Abueva after he clotheslined American basketball player Terence Jones, who during that time played for the TNT Tropang Giga, and making lewd gestures against the girlfriend of fellow PBA player Bobby Ray Parks Jr.

After 16 months, the league lifted the suspension against Abueva, who underwent a series of drug tests and psychological tests.
