Filipino boxer Eumir Marcial has the chance to bag another gold medal for the Philippines in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Marcial advances to the finals of the men's boxing 80-kilogram division after defeating Ahmad Ghousoon of Syria on Wednesday, October 4, via knockout.
A combination of a left jab and a right hook allowed the 27-year-old Olympic bronze medalist to bring Ghousoon down to the canvas at the 1:49 mark of the second round.
The victory also ensured that Marcial would have a spot in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
Prior to the semifinal match, Marcial also grabbed a knockout victory against Weerapon Jongjoho of Thailand on Sunday, October 1.
Marcial will face Tanglatihan Tuohetaerbieke of China on Thursday, October 5, for the gold medal.
