Senatorial candidate Luis "Manong Chavit" Singson is proving that retirement is not on his horizon as he actively tours the country to promote his mission of public service.
Over the past week, Singson has engaged with various sectors, including local government units, public transport stakeholders, and former colleagues in public service, showcasing his dedication to uplifting the lives of Filipinos.
On December 3, Singson attended the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) National Assembly, where he reconnected with fellow leaders. As a former PCL president in Ilocos Sur, the event served as a homecoming. During the gathering, he outlined his platforms, many of which he has already implemented in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.
Following this, Singson traveled to Roxas City to meet with local stakeholders, including former Senator Mar Roxas. The discussions centered on programs designed to benefit Roxas City and the greater Visayas region.
On December 6, Singson visited Cebu City, where he met with transport cooperatives to promote his advocacy for public utility vehicle modernization. The initiative gained support from Cebu People's Cooperative spokesperson Yoyong Quevedo, who noted, “Manong Chavit can help us transition to modernized jeepneys and tricycles.”
Singson’s week was also marked by a blend of advocacy and cultural engagement. On December 4, he attended the V1BE Manila concert at the Mall of Asia Arena, headlined by international artist Akon and Ilocano rapper EZ Mil. The concert highlighted his senatorial bid when EZ Mil gave him a public shoutout.
On December 7, Singson returned to Ilocos Sur to celebrate the 202nd anniversary of Divine Word College, his alma mater. The event became a family reunion as he was joined by his brother, Ilocos Sur Governor Jerry Singson, Deputy Speaker Kristine Singson-Meehan, and Candon City Mayor Eric Singson.
During the celebration at Fiera de Candon, Singson was recognized as a "unifying figure" in the province and championed the slogan, "One Candon City, One Ilocos Sur, One Philippines."
"The success of Ilocos Sur can be replicated nationwide if Chavit becomes a senator," said local supporters.
