Manila Water to continue 24/7 service despite MWSS supply decrease
by Mary Antalan11 July 2023

In an interview with DZRH, Manila Water highlighted their objective of giving customers 24/7 service despite the reduced supply coming from Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).

Unlike Maynilad who will be conducting nine to eleven water interruptions starting on Wednesday, Manila Water promised to continue its service as it still has enough water supply, mentioning some of their solutions to minimize service interruptions.

So Napalitan halos mga ninety percent na nong mga lumang linya kaya mga tagas medyo kakaunti nalang,” it added.

Sevilla also said they have introduced a new program called “Tubig para sa Barangay” to avoid illegal connections.

It detailed how they came up with developing other water sources during the pandemic.

Moreover, Sevilla mentioned the current Phase 1 of Wawa Alawis Dam, which could supply 20-30 million liters of water per day and could supply up to 80 million liters per day.

“Isa pang proyekto ay yung East Bay na kukuha sa silangang bahagi ng Laguna Lake, yung first 50 million liters per day at hopefully matapos na yung line na ito,” Servilla said.

Manila water has been working with massive repair and maintenance activities which, according to them, resulted in supplying 24/7 to its East Zone customers.

Sevilla emphasized the need to create other sources of water aside from Angat Dam.
