<p>Drag artist Manila Luzon on Thursday called for donations for Luka Vega, who is now in jail.</p>
<p>In his Instagram post, Manila Luzon shared a picture of him with Pura, and pictures of ways to donate such as Gcash and bank transfers.</p>
<p>"The Art of Drag in the Philippines is under attack. Today, October 4, 2023, @puralukavega from @dragdenph was arrested by the Philippine National Police for violating Article 201 &mdash; "immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions and indecent shows,&rdquo; Manila Luzon captioned.</p>
<p>"Drag is NOT a crime! Swipe to donate for their bail! #freepuralukavega," he added.</p>
<p>Pura was arrested on Wednesday and is now under the custody of Manila Police District Station 3 in Quiapo, Manila.</p>
<p>The drag artist was arrested following his controversial performance of the &ldquo;Ama Namin&rdquo; remix portraying the image of Black Nazarene.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, someone commented on the IG post saying, "I don&rsquo;t think drag is under attack here. Only Pura is being made accountable for disrespecting what majority of Filipinos hold sacred - religion. Let&rsquo;s not blow up this issue out of proportion. Otherwise, we are allowing ourselves to be used by a supposed artist whose imagination and creativity is limited by low tactics such as offending people&rsquo;s beliefs. The greatest drag artists didn&rsquo;t have to resort to that to get attention l."</p>
<p>Hijos del Nazareno, <a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/hijos-del-nazareno-files-case-vs-pura-luka-over-alleged-violation-of-cybercrime-prevention-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the religious group that filed the case against Pura</a>, had said that the latter violated Revised Penal Code Article 201 by attacking the religious beliefs of the devotees.</p>
<p>The case's bail amount has been set at P72,000.</p>
<p>In an interview on DZRH News, Pura said his side sought a motion to submit a counter affidavit.</p>
