The Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) raised the red alert status in line with the "National Rally for Peace" organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), scheduled for Monday, January 13.
In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was mentioned that Office of Civil Defense (OCD) - National Capital Region (NCR) Director George Keyser stated that this indicates the government's preparedness for emergency response operations.
Furthermore, 17,000 INC members will be deployed for emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Along with OCD personnel, 5,000 police officers, 1,200 MMDA personnel, and 120 soldiers from the Philippine Army were also deployed to maintain security at the event.
The OCD will also set up a Virtual Emergency Operating Center via Zoom, in addition to the MMDA Command Center, to ensure continuous oversight of the situation.
Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) members started arriving at the rally venue yesterday to prepare for the event.
Meanwhile, the MMDA continued to advise that parking for attendees with vehicles is restricted to a single lane along the roads near the Quirino Grandstand.
