The City of Manila will be preparing a hero’s parade for two-time Olympic Gold medalist of the Philippines, Filipino gymnast Carlos “Caloy” Yulo, for his triumphant win in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"Wala po kaming pagsidlan ng tuwa para kay Carlos Edriel Yulo sa kanyang pambihirang tagumpay sa pagkamit ang dalawang gintong medalya sa Paris Olympics 2024," Manila mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Lacuna mentioned that Yulo has etched his name in the history of the Philippines and in Asian sports.

The official date and route of the parade will be announced once the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manila have coordinated with the Olympian champion’s team.

"Tentatively, we are thinking of starting the parade where it all began—on Leveriza Street in Malate, where Caloy grew up. The parade will pass through areas near Malacañang, the University Belt, and will conclude at Manila City Hall," Lacuna said.

According to the city mayor, Yulo is set to receive cash incentives, honors, and recognition from the entire Manila LGU.

Lacuna said that she will ensure that more youth will be able to witness the parade. In doing so, the LGU in coordination with the Department of Education and private schools, will make arrangements for students to come and see Yulo's procession through the streets of Manila.

"This will allow them to experience firsthand what they would otherwise only see on TV," said Lacuna.

Yulo first clinched a gold medal for winning in the men's artistic gymnastics floor exercise event on Saturday (Manila time) and was able to add another gold after topping the men's artistic gymnastics vault event the next day.
