Dr. Jose Rene De Grano, president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAPi), wants to require the wearing of face masks for people with comorbidities and senior citizens.

De Grano made the suggestion after the Department of Health (DOH) reported a 'small' increase in 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) infections.

He also wants hospitals to require people to wear face masks when inside their premises.

"Sa mga ospital sa palagay ko ay dapat gawin nilang requirement, mandatory," De Grano said on Tuesday, May 21, during DZRH's Balansyado.

De Grano also urged the public to once again practice the minimum health standards, including frequent washing of hands with alcohol, and avoiding crowded areas.

DOH reported that the agency recorded 877 new COVID-19 cases from May 7 to May 13, with an average of 125 new infections reported per day.
