Mandaluyong Police Chief Cesar Gerente was relieved from his position after testing positive for the use of illegal drugs during the random drug test conducted by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
According to the NCRPO’s memorandum order dated August 27, Gerente will be replaced by PCol. Mary Grace Madayag as the acting chief of police of Mandaluyong City.
Gerente will be temporarily placed in the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting section under NCRPO - Regional Personnel and Records Management Division.
He is subject to investigation and may face possible administrative cases.
After Gerente was tested positive, NCRPO Director Jose Melencio Nartatez said that they immediately conducted drug testing on almost 500 police officers in Mandaluyong on August 28.
Mandaluyong cops tested negative for drugs.
