

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) together with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), arrested a man allegedly involved in a recruitment scam that preyed on hopeful PCG applicants.
Authorities caught the suspek during an entrapment operation conducted on Thursday, May 22 at the corner of P. Campa Street and España Boulevard in Manila.
The suspect, identified as “Morris,” in the act of receiving money from applicants who were promised slots in the PCG.
According to a report the operation was initiated following multiple complaints from individuals claiming that the suspect posed as someone with strong connections inside the PCG.
“Allegedly, each applicant can have a guaranteed entry to the PCG for a PhP 350,000.00 payment,” CIDG said in a statement.
The suspect is facing charges for Estafa (Swindling) under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code, due to his false representation of power, influence, and qualifications to manipulate the PCG recruitment process.
