Malacañang on Friday reminded candidates to stay law-abiding and avoid violations as the local election campaign period commences.
In a press briefing on Friday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said that candidates should follow the rules to serve as good examples to the public as the next leaders.
Meanwhile, Malacañang also reminded the police and military, in addition to the candidates, to stay apolitical and avoid being used for political interests.
Castro pointed out that uniformed personnel are obligated to uphold their loyalty to the country and the Constitution.
"Yes, of course, ang PNP kasi dapat it should remain apolitical, so huwag magpapagamit tama po, huwag magpagamit sa politiko, huwag magpagamit sa damdamin," Castro explained.
