The Malacañang confirmed on Monday the unannounced trip of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. to Singapore over the weekend, saying it was a “productive visit”.
Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles released the statement after photos of Marcos Jr. together with his son Ilocos 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez who were all seen watching the F1 Grand Prix, a high-class international racing event, went viral on social media.
“Pinagpatibay niya ang mga pangunahing usapan sa huling state visit sa bayan na ito, at pinatuloy ang paghihikayat sa pag invest sa bayang Pilipinas,“ she said.
[He strengthened the talks discussed in his last state visit to this country, and continued encouraging them to invest in the Philippines.]
Cruz-Angeles shared a screenshot of the Facebook post of Singaporean Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng who also confirmed the visit of Marcos to their country.
In See Leng’s post, he said he was happy to see Marcos and other heads of state and foreign dignitaries on the sidelines of the F1 Grand Prix.
He said they all met to affirm “bilateral economic relationships and strengthen collaborations in energy cooperation as well as exchange views on manpower policies on the sidelines of the race.“
