The local government of Taguig City on Tuesday filed a motion that asks the Supreme Court (SC) to investigate “false and troubling claims” made by Makati City mayor Abby Binay regarding the Makati-Taguig years-long territorial dispute.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano personally led the filing of the extremely urgent manifestation with motion ad cautelam before the SC in Manila.

In the filed extremely urgent manifestation, the Taguig government cited that Binay should be investigated over her social media post that allegedly "urged its residents to continue to fight" for the disputed Bonifacio Global City Complex or BGC.

Last March, the Supreme Court affirmed the ruling of Pasig Regional Trial Court's (RTC) 2011 decision that declared that Fort Bonifacio Military Reservation where the BGC stood belongs to Taguig City.

According to the Taguig government, Binay also earlier claimed that the fight was not yet over for "she personally talked” with President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Honorable Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo to reopen the case.

The LGU then asked the higher court to "issue a show cause order” against Binay “to explain why she should not be sanctioned” due to her claims.

In an interview with the reporters, Cayetano stressed that they greatly opposed the social media post of the Makati City Mayor.

She said that aside from the social media post, Binay also released a statement that claimed that she received an order from the court that the case will be reheared again.

“Bagama’t ang statement nito ni Abby Binay ay pinabulaanan ng Korte Suprema, tila sinusuportahan nito ang social media post na lumabas. Ito ay hindi namin binabalewala at kinukuha namin ang pagkakataong ito upang kunin sa Supreme Court ang kanilang atensyon at ang kanilang pag-iimbestiga sa post at statements ni Mayor Abby Binay,” she added.

During the filing, Cayetano was joined by some Taguig residents who were holding placards that stated “We support BBM, FL, and CJ. Huwag silang gamitin sa fake news.”
