Makati criticizes Taguig for its alleged 'inaction' on EMBO health centers' license to operate
by Ellicia Del Mundo04 January 2024

The Makati Local Government Unit (LGU) on Wednesday, January 3, took a hit at Taguig LGU for its alleged inaction on the required license to operate of the health centers in the 10 EMBO barangays.

In a statement posted on My Makati's official Facebook page, Makati LGU claimed that Taguig LGU was informed about the closure of health centers before it publicly announced this.

WALA," it underscored.

On January 1, Makati LGU announced that health centers lying in the 10 Embo barangay would be forced to shut down as their license to operate reached the expiration period. It also declared that Yellow and BLU cards owned by EMBO citizens had expired.

The Makati LGU contended that Taguig had "refused all proposals" that sought to "ensure uninterrupted access to health services in the EMBO barangays", adding that the latter was also defiant regarding the MOA signing on properties and data sharing agreement.

It further criticized Taguig LGU for providing teleconsultation instead of building health centers.

The Makati LGU made the statement after Taguig LGU had claimed that the EMBO health centers' closure was just a strategy to "harass" them.

Taguig LGU also asserted that Makati suddenly backed out in the transition of health services and transfer of facilities as agreed during a meeting with the DOH officials.

It stressed that Makati LGU should let them provide necessary health services to EMBO residents while the land dispute is still being discussed in court.
