The Department of Agriculture (DA) will implement a major revamp in its organization structure this first week of January, according to a DA official on Thursday, January 4.
"Naglabas kahapon ng special orders, pito iyon para sa reorganization sa Department of Agriculture," DA Asec. Arnel De Mesa confirmed in an interview during DZRH Dos Por Dos.
He said two DA senior officials, namely Domingo 'Ding' Panganiban and Lecadio 'Leo' Sebastian, had already submitted their resignation to former Agriculture Secretary, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
"Si Usec. Panganiban ay nagpaalam na Pangulo noong December 21 at si Usec. Leo Sebastian, magpapaalam na sa January 31," he said.
Sebastian was said to be temporarily appointed as adviser of DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., effective until he officially leaves the agriculture department.

In October 2023, Marcos tapped Sebastian as the DA undersecretary for Rice Industry Development while Panganiban was earlier named as the DA senior undersecretary and Sugar Regulatory Administration officer-in-charge.
As per De Mesa, other DA officials were re-assigned to other positions.
"Wala pang bagong appointments na lumalabas sa Malacañang," De Mesa said, adding that any new appointees will be publicly announce.
