LA Tenorio may not be done playing in the PBA just yet.
The Magnolia Hotshots’ first-year head coach confirmed during the PBA Media Day at Centris on Friday that he remains on the team’s 15-man roster, though currently listed in the injured/reserve slot. That setup technically makes him eligible to suit up if management decides to activate him.
“I'm part of the lineup. I think I'm in the injury list,” Tenorio explained. “It depends on the management. My rights is with Magnolia now. So I have a chance. But we'll see.”
If the plan pushes through, Tenorio would join the exclusive ranks of PBA figures who once served as both player and coach — among them Ramon Fernandez, Norman Black, the late Bobby Parks, and most notably, Robert Jaworski Sr.
Tenorio was quick to acknowledge Jaworski’s unmatched legacy in the role. “There's only one person who can do that and its coach Sonny (Jaworski). And siyempre, high respect tayo diyan,” he said.
The 41-year-old mentor admitted the dual responsibility would be demanding, but he has already dipped his toes back into action. “From time to time sumasali ako ng practice. So you'll never know,” he shared.
Meanwhile, Tenorio also clarified speculation about retirement, saying his lengthy Instagram post before the Season 50 Draft was meant as a heartfelt thank-you to Barangay Ginebra rather than a formal farewell from playing.
