A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental at 5:18 PM on Monday, June 15.
According to PHIVOLCS, the earthquake has a depth of 86 km and is tectonic in origin.
Instrumental intensities were felt in the following areas:
- Intensity III - City of General Santos, SOUTH COTABATO
- Intensity II - Digos City, DAVAO DEL SUR; Malungon, SARANGANI; Koronadal City, Tupi, SOUTH COTABATO
- Intensity I - Magsaysay, DAVAO DEL SUR; Sta. Maria, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL; Nabunturan, DAVAO DE ORO; Kiamba, Malapatan, Maasim, SARANGANI; TBoli, SOUTH COTABATO
There is no expected damage.
However, PHIVOLCS noted that aftershocks are expected from the quake.
As of 5:26 PM, PHIVOLCS lowered the earthquake to a magnitude of 6.2. The following intensities were recorded from the quake:
