

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit the waters of Surigao Del Sur on Tuesday, June 17, at 4:36 PM.
Based on PHIVOLCS earthquake information, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometers and is tectonic in origin.
It had an exact location of 08.06°N, 126.86°E - 049 km N 87° E of Lingig (Surigao Del Sur).
Instrumental intensities were also reported in the following areas:

In an interview with DZRH’s Breaktime, the PHIVOLCS Director Dr. Teresito Bacolcol, informed the public that there is no expected damage from the quake. However, aftershocks may be experienced.
“By definition, yung aftershocks natin would be one degree lower,” he said.
“We are not expecting damage kasi hindi naman masyadong malakas ito at nasa dagat po ito,” he added.
