

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit offshore Northern Samar on Wednesday, May 7.
This comes after a magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck the area around 12:41 PM. According to PHIVOLCS, the quake that struck Mapanas, Northern Samar, had a depth of 017 km and was tectonic in origin.
There is no expected damage from the earthquake, but the public was advised to be on the lookout for aftershocks.
Based on PHIVOLCS earthquake information, the earthquake was felt in Northern and Eastern Samar.
Around 2:13 PM, the agency updated its bulletin, lowering it to magnitude 4.9.
