A magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook Matanao, Davao del Sur at 9:42 AM on Tuesday, March 4.
In the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology’s (PHIVOLCS) second bulletin, the quake’s epicenter was determined to be 5 kilometers south-southwest of Matanao, at a depth of 15 kilometers.
The tremor was caused by the movement of tectonic plates along fault lines. It was initially logged with a magnitude of 5.4.
The City of Digos, Magsaysay, Matanao, and Bansalan experienced the earthquake at Intensity 5.

Meanwhile, Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental, Banisilan in Cotabato, and Lake Sebu in South Cotabato scarcely felt it at Intensity 1.
No damage is expected, although the agency warned aftershocks may follow.
