An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 shook Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro late Saturday night, according to state seismologists.
The tectonic tremor, which occurred at 12:00 a.m., had a depth of 44 kilometers (km) as reported by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
'Moderately strong' shaking or Intensity 4 was felt in Puerto Galera and Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, 'weak' shaking or Intensity 3 was recorded in Lemery and Calatagan, Batangas, San Ildefonso, Bulacan, Magallanes, and Tagaytay City, Cavite, as well as Las Piñas City.
In Abucay, Bataan, and other areas such as Cuenca, San Luis, Bauan, Laurel, Batangas City, and Sta. Teresita, Batangas, Marilao, Malolos City, Guiguinto, Calumpit, and Pulilan, Bulacan, Tagaytay City and Ternate, Cavite, Muntinlupa City, Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, and Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, the shaking was 'slightly felt', with an intensity level of 2.
San Juan City, Pasay, Malabon City, Pateros, Metro Manila, Paranaque City, Dinalupihan, Bataan, Talisay, Lipa, Batangas, Norzagaray and Obando, Bulacan, Guagua, Pampanga, Gumaca, Dolores, Quezon, Cardona, Angono, and Taytay, Rizal, Marabut, Samar; San Antonio, Cabangan, Subic, and Olongapo City, Zambales, all logged Intensity 1, which was 'scarcely perceptible' shaking.
Netizens from various areas around Metro Manila, where Intensity 1 was recorded, also claimed to have felt the earthquake. Although no damage is expected, Phivolcs warns of possible aftershocks.
