A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Alupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan on Monday at dawn on February 19, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Based on the PHIVOLCS report, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at 19.09°N, 120.76°E, and 047 km S, 88°W, of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan.
The tectonic earthquake occurred at 02:22 a.m. It has a depth of 28 kilometers.
PHILVOCS said Intensity III was felt in Claveria, Cagayan.

While there was no damage expected, aftershocks could happen.
