A magnitude 5.0 earthquake rocked Lingig, Surigao del Sur on Monday morning, April 1, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its 8 AM bulletin, Phivolcs said 5.0 quake occurred at 6:23 AM and its epicenter was located 24 kilometers N 62° East of Lingig, Surigao Del Sur.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a 28-kilometer depth focus,

The intensities of the 5.0 quake was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity V - Lingig, and Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur
- Intensity IV - City of Bislig, Surigao del Sur
- Intensity III - Boston, Davao Oriental
Meanwhile, the areas below experienced instrumental intensities.
- Intensity III - City of Bislig, Surigao del Sur; Nabunturan, Davao De Oro
- Intensity I - City of Tandag, Surigao del Sur
The state seismologist said damages are expected but no aftershocks.
