A magnitude 5 earthquake hit Jose Abad Santos in Davao Oriental on Tuesday, March 5, the PHIVOLCS reported.

The tectonic earthquake occurred at 5:15 in the morning. It has a depth of 169 kilometers.

Instrumental intensities were reported in the following areas:

• Intensity III: Don Marcelino, DAVAO OCCIDENTAL; Malungon, SARANGANI
• Intensity II: Alabel, Maasim, Sarangani; Digos City; DAVAO DEL SUR
• Intensity I: Tupi, T'Boli, SOUTH COTABATO; Glan, Kiamba SARANGANI; Matanao, DAVAO DEL SUR

PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected, while aftershocks could occur.
