A magnitude 5.0 earthquake rocked Balut Island in Glan, Sarangani province on Thursday morning, Nov. 23, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Based on its earthquake information bulletin, the earthquake's epicenter was traced 56 kilometers west of Glan, Sarangani.
The 5.0 quake was tectonic in origin and had depth of 10 kilometers.

Phivolcs said Intensity II was felt in General Santos City.
Instrumental intensities were recorded in the following areas:
- Intensity III - Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Kiamba, Glan, Maasim, Sarangani; T'Boli, South Cotabato; General Santos City
- Intensity II - Matanao, Davao Del Sur; Alabel, Sarangani; Polomolok, South Cotabato
- Intensity I - Maitum, Malungon, Sarangani; Lake Sebu, Tupi, South Cotabato; Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat
According to the state seismologist, the 5.0 earthquake "is an aftershock of the 2023 November 17 M6.8 Offshore Davao Occidental earthquake event."
Phivolcs said it is no damages and aftershocks are expected.
