A magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck Sinait, Ilocos Sur, early Monday, August 19, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The earthquake, which occurred at 4:51 a.m., was of tectonic origin, as reported in the state seismologist’s bulletin.

It had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, but no significant intensities were recorded.

PHIVOLCS also stated that no damage or aftershocks are expected to occur.
