A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit the Municipality of Taft in Eastern Samar on Saturday morning, August 9.
Based on PHIVOLCS’ earthquake information 2, the quake jolted the town at 9:44 AM. Its exact location was recorded at 11.86°N, 125.30°E - 014 km S 68° W of Taft (Eastern Samar), with a depth of focus of 027 km.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin.
There are no reported intensities at the time of writing. According to PHIVOLCS, no damages and aftershocks are expected.
