The Luzon and Visayas Grids will be placed on yellow alert on Thursday, April 25, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

In its 8 a.m. advisory, NGCP said the Luzon grid will be on yellow alert from 1:00 PM-5:00 PM and 7:00 PM-11:00 PM.
The available capacity is 14,568MW with a peak demand of 13,941MW.
"4 plants have been on forced outage since 2023, 3 between January and March 2024, and 12 since April 2024; while 1 other is running on derated capacity, for a total of 1,424.3MW unavailable to the grid," the NGCP said.
Meanwhile, the yellow alert in the Visayas grid will take effect from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM, 6:00 6:00 PM-7:00 PM, and 8:00 PM–9:00 PM.
The available capacity is 2,829 MW, while the peak demand is 2,555 MW.
"1 plant has been on forced outage since 2022, 2 since 2023, 2 between January and March 2024, and 19 since April 2024; while 12 others are running on derated capacities, for a total of 670.8 MW unavailable to the grid," the advisory read.
On Wednesday, Luzon and Visayas grids were placed under red and yellow alert, while Mindanao grids were on yellow alert.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
