The Luzon Grid was placed on yellow alert status on Tuesday, July 11 due to insufficient operating margin to meet the current demand, according to National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
In a NGCP advisory, the Luzon Grid was put on yellow alert status, which indicates that the grid has low reserves based on supply and demand, starting at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
In comparison to the highest demand of 12,222 megawatts, the grid's usable capacity was measured at 12,705 megawatts.
The Department of Energy (DOE) predicted that on May, the grid would see 15 occasions of yellow alert status for the remainder of the year and cautioned that a red alert might still occur if a transmission failure occurred.
