LTO: Over 270,000 delinquent vehicles registered
by Ada Pelonia05 February 2024

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recorded 272,233 delinquent motor vehicles that renewed their registration in January.

LTO’s data showed the list of registered vehicles: 198,283 motorcycles; 20,427 cars; 34,436 utility vehicles; 12,213 sports utility vehicles, 5,617 taxis, 1,089 tricycles, and 168 buses.

The numbers came after the agency’s strict nationwide implementation of the “no registration, no travel” policy launched last year to cover the backlog of more than 24 million unregistered motor vehicles.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza reportedly conducted visits in regional offices to check the status of road safety.

“We want to check on the programs, projects and good practices of each regional offices (sic) that can be replicated and utilized in other parts of the country,” Mendoza said.

“Iisa lang namaan ang layunin namin dito at yun ay maayos, mabilis at may malasakit na serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan,” he added.
