The Land Transportation Office (LTO) welcomes an inquiry by the House of Representatives on the shortage of plastic driver's license cards.
"We are looking forward to aiding Congress in crafting laws in order for us to improve our procurement processes," Asec. Jay Art Tugade, chief of LTO, said.
Bagong Henerasyon Partylist Rep. Bernadette Herrera filed the resolution that urges the Lower House of Congress to investigate the shortage in plastic cards used for driver's licenses.
"We want to know specifically and in detail where during the procurement process the Land Transportation Office keeps encountering problems over and over again," Herrera said in a statement.
The congresswoman said that lawmakers will welcome suggestions from the LTO and the Department of Transportation 'on what changes can be made to the procurement process'.
"We also want to know who were incompetent, negligent and grossly negligent in their duties and responsibilities because they should be held liable and accountable," Herrera added.
The shortage of plastic cards forced the LTO to issue temporary driver's documents printed on paper.
