The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is offering a free driving course to all pre-registered student driver applicants nationwide as part of the celebration of its 111th founding anniversary.
The free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) program has started today, May 11, and it will also be offered tomorrow, May 12.
In a statement, LTO Chief Jay Art Tugade said this initiative aims to make TDC accessible to student permit applicants who have no financial means to pay for it.
"While we can only accommodate a limited number of students, this initiative demonstrates the agency's dedication to increasing the number of qualified drivers on the road, in partnership with our affiliated driving schools," he noted.
Tugade also said that the free TDC program is also part of the agency's effort to discourage applicants from resorting to fixers.
"Engaging with fixers is not only a financial waste but also results in unqualified and unskilled drivers on our roads," he added.
The LTO Chief bared that they are planning to make the free TDC be conducted monthly in all of its regional offices in the country.
