The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday reminded the public not to bribe traffic enforcers or any law enforcement units.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade urged people to help enforcers avoid practicing corruption.

“Offering bribes to our law enforcers will not get you anywhere and will make things worse. Wala pong tiwali kung walang mag-uudyok na maging tiwali. Magtulungan po tayo.," he said.

The agency's appeal was made after a van in Sorsogon City tried to bribe LTO Region 5 law enforcement officers with P3,000 for colorum operation or operating without a franchise.

However, the officers recorded the incident and arrested the driver for bribery.

“The entire LTO and myself laud the actions of our noble traffic enforcers for refusing to accept the alleged bribery attempt, for standing firm in enforcing the law and not be tempted by acts of corruption. They are exceptional public servants that should be emulated by everyone,” Tugade said.

He then recognized LTO Region 5 Assistant Regional Director Vince Nato for strictly enforcing the law in the province.
