The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced on Tuesday that they will be providing a one-time PHP 6,00 fuel subsidy to all public utility vehicles (PUV) drivers by late August.

According to LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz III, the distribution of the subsidy would begin in selected areas in Metro Manila with the exact number of beneficiaries yet to be determined.

Earlier this week, oil firms implemented price hikes with gasoline up by PHP 1.90 per liter, diesel by PHP 2.10 per liter, and kerosene by PHP 1.80 per liter starting July 18.

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oil Industry Management Bureau also noted that increases are expected this week due to the scheduled supply cuts and hopes for higher demand.
