The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will be distributing a "one-time" P6,000 worth of fuel subsidy to qualified Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) operators this August.
This was announced by LTFRB chairman Teofilo 'Jojo' Guadiz in an ambush interview on Tuesday, July 18.
"Ang start po nito ay probably by late August, ire-release na ang aming fuel subsidy," he said.
According to Guadiz, eligible tricycle and modernized jeepney operators will be the ones to receive the fuel subsidy.
The one-time fuel subsidy will begin in Metro Manila, the LTFRB chairman said.
The exact date of distribution has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, in a different development, Guadiz along with other Department of Transportation (DOTr) officials met the "MAGIC 12", a group consisting of various leaders of transportation groups.
The Magic 12 declared that they will not be joining the three-day nationwide transportation strike to be carried out by MANIBELA next week, from July 24 to July 26.
"Nakita niyo naman na sama-sama kami, ang buong industriya ng transportation ay sumusuporta sa ating modernisasyon. Ayan din ang message kahapon nung may pulong kami ng mga buses, mga provincial buses, they were there to show their support to the modernization ng government," the LTFRB chairman told reporters in an interview..
