The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Monday, Oct. 16, announced that the transport strike spearheaded by Manibela did not disrupt the public transportation service in the country.
“No significant stranded passengers were monitored. The incident of harassment recorded in Region 3 was properly and promptly acted upon by the local police in the area,” the franchising and regulatory board said in its statement.
“There was an efficient implementation of the contingency measures by the national government through the Inter-Agency Task Force on Tigil Pasada,” it added.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chief Romando Artes earlier deemed the transport strike “exaggerated” after only a handful of jeepney drivers and operators were seen participating on the road.
Transport group Manibela stated that the tranport strike was their protest against the jeepney phaseout.
