Members and officers of the Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) on Monday, Nov. 20, had a dialogue with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) officials in regard to their concerns on the government's Public Utility Modernization Program (PUVMP).

LTFRB Chairman Teofilo 'Jojo' Guadiz personally talked with PISTON National President Mody Floranda in E. Rodriguez Ave., Quezon City where transport groups gathered for the first day of the three-day nationwide transportation strike.

In a statement posted on its official social media accounts, PISTON lamented about the LTFRB chief's remark saying that they will still need to study the group's demands.

"Lahat "pag-aaralan". Pinasimple na natin ang ating demands — tanggalin ang deadline, tanggalin ang consolidation, ibasura ang phaseout. Ang sagot ng LTFRB, puro "pag-aaralan", puro paasa," it said.

"Hindi na maantay ng mga kumakalam na sikmura ng mga tsuper at operator ang "pag-aaral" ng LTFRB," the transport group added.

PISTON pointed out that time is running out as the Dec. 31 deadline for franchise consolidation applications under the PUV-MP approaches.

"Pinaasa lang ang mga tsuper at operator para magmukha sa madla na may malasakit ang LTFRB," it stressed.

The transport group said the launched transportation strike will proceed.

Meanwhile, PISTON claimed that the first day of the three-day tigil pasada successfully paralyzed 95 percent of the major routes in the National Capital Region.
