The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a show cause order against the bus operator and the two drivers of the UV express vans, who were involved in the tunnel road crash in Quezon City.
Following the multiple vehicular collision of one bus, two UV express vans, and a motorcycle on Wednesday morning, the LTFRB issued a show cause order against the two UV express drivers and the bus operator, Diamond V-Eight Transport Inc., involved in the crash. The respondents were asked to show cause in their “writing on why their Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended, cancelled, and/or revoked for Employing [a] Reckless Driver, resulting in multiple road crash[es] and injuries.”
RH 5 Val Gonzales said in a follow-up report that among the six individuals wounded were three of the UV express passengers, the two drivers, and one police officer who was riding the motorcycle.
The report furthered that the police officer was en route to Quezon Memorial Circle when he saw the two drivers arguing in the tunnel. The three vehicles stopped at the side of the tunnel, with the police officer acting as the mediator, when the speeding bus crashed into them.
Gonzales stated that the police flew off the motorcycle due to the impact of the crash.
The LTFRB Spokesperson Atty. Ariel Inton said that the agency’s response complies with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon’s directive for the immediate imposition of penalties on those who violate traffic laws.
The respondents are directed to appear before the Board on June 4 at 10 AM.
