Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Teofilo 'Jojo' Guadiz III is back in his position today, Nov. 6, after the Office of the President (OP) lifted the preventive suspension order earlier imposed against him.
In a statement released to Malacañang reporters on Sunday, Nov. 5, the Office of the Executive Secretary said the lifting is in connection with the recantation of former LTFRB executive assistant Jeffrey Tumbado.
“The Office of the President lifted the suspension order imposed upon LTFRB Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III after Jefferson Gallos Tumbado, who appears to be the sole witness in his case, executed an Affidavit of Recantation withdrawing his statements and allegations against him,” it said.
The Office of the Executive Secretary stated that there is “no reason to place” Guadiz under preventive suspension"unless a supervening event maintaining the same accusations against him are put forth before the OP."
In a separate statement issued on Monday, Nov. 6, Guadiz vowed to uphold the highest standards of “integrity, transparency, and efficiency in leading the LTFRB.”
"We will work tirelessly to address the pressing issues and challenges in the transportation sector, striving to improve the lives of the Filipino people by providing safe, reliable, and accessible public transportation services," he said.
In October, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. suspended Guadiz following the reports of alleged corruption inside the agency.
