The approved fare adjustments in the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT) Line 1 and Line 2 will start to take effect this Wednesday, August 2 as scheduled.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) earlier approved the increase in minimum boarding fee to ₱13.29 from ₱11, and the charge per kilometer to ₱1.21 from ₱1.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), the private operator of LRT-2, posted a fare matrix table for commuter’s guide on Monday, July 31.

Based on the fare table, the minimum fare for a stored value or beep card will now cost ₱14 and for single journey tickets (SJT) remains at ₱15.

Beep card users who will be traveling from Recto to Antipolo stations will have to pay the maximum fare of ₱35.

Maximum fare for SJT, meanwhile, cost ₱30.

The LRTA noted that discounts are still applicable for senior citizens, persons with disability (PWD), and students.

“Pinapayuhan ng LRTA ang mga pasahero na gumamit ng stored value card o beep card para makatipid at maikawas sa abala,” it said.

The private operator maintained that the fare hike is for the improvement of railways’ facilities and services.

Meanwhile, in separate advisory, LRT-1's private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) reminded its consumers that the fare hike shall begin by August 2.

"Ang bagong minimum na pasahe sa LRT-1 ay Php14 at ang maximum naman ay Php35 para sa Store Value Cards (SVCs)," it said.

For commuters using Single Journey Tickets (SJTs) will pay ₱15 to ₱35.
