Commuters will get libreng sakay or free rides at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) today, February 7.
In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that the free rides started at 7 AM and will run until 9 AM — the peak operating hours.
In the afternoon, the libreng sakay can be availed from 5 to 7.
The DOTr said this initiative is part of its 125th anniversary celebration.
"Isang mainit na pagbati sa lahat ng mga kawani at opisyal ng Department of Transportation na nagdiriwang ng ika-125 anibersaryo ngayong taon. Ang LIBRENG SAKAY na handog ng MRT-3 ay selebrasyon at pagpapatunay ng matibay na suporta ng linya sa misyon ng Kagawaran na magbigay ng ligtas, komportable, maaasahan, at maayos na transportasyon sa publiko. Mabuhay po ang mga manggagawa ng transportasyon at ang mga pasaherong Pilipino!" DOTr Sec. for Railways and MRT-3 officer-in-charge Jorjette Aquino said in a separate post.
