LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 now 97% complete - LRMC

The phase one of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension is now 97 percent complete as of March, nearing to kick-off its operation by the fourth quarter of 2024.

"As of January 2024, the project boasts an impressive overall progress of 97%, solidifying LRMC’s bullish outlook for its target opening in the fourth quarter of this year," the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of LRT-1, stated in a news release.

As per LRMC, the five of the eight stations are almost complete, with Redemptorist Station progressing at 93.3 percent, Manila International Airport Station at 93.5 percent, Asia World Station at 83 percent, Ninoy Aquino Station at 88 percent, and Dr. Santos Station at 94.1 percent.

"Simultaneously, system works are progressing efficiently. Telecom installation activities at Dr. Santos and Redemptorist stations have been completed, and similar work has begun at MIA and Asia World stations," it said.

LRT-1's Cavite Extension Phase 1 will connect Baclaran Station in Pasay to Dr. Santos Station in Paranaque City, benefetting an estimated 600,000 passengers a day.

The construction of LRT-1 Cavite Extension started on May 7, 2019.
