The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) confirmed that a male individual had jumped off the LRT-1 Fernando Poe Jr. Station on Wednesday morning and died from his injuries.
“Following an immediate investigation, reports indicate that at approximately 10:30 AM, a male individual jumped off from the station platform to the street level of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA),” the LRMC said in a statement.
Its security and safety team immediately responded to the incident, before local authorities took over. The individual was pronounced dead on-site due to the impact of his fall.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the individual during this difficult time,” the LRMC wrote.
LRT-1 operations remained unaffected by the incident, the corporation announced. It appealed to the public to observe all safety rules and regulations within the LRT-1 premises.
The individual was identified as a student from the Philippine Christian University (PCU), based on the identification card found on him. He fell from a height of three stories onto the EDSA northbound lane.
MMDA personnel confirmed that he was dragged a long distance away by a passing car from where he had landed.
